VP Finance

at Thinkific in Vancouver

We are looking to add an exceptional VP of Finance to our team at Thinkific. You’ll come on board to help us build a premier SaaS finance department (and at the beginning, you’ll be the whole finance department).

If you care about both people and processes, and are excited to continually improve and enhance our financial systems while building the skills and experience of your team, read on!

Some of your typical responsibilities might look like:

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction in all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance, cash management, audits and internal controls
  • Working closely with our contracted bookkeeper and accountant to coordinate activities
  • Leading core financial processes including developing, analyzing and presenting long range plans, annual budgets, and monthly/quarterly forecasts and longer range financial projections
  • Working with our internal teams on financial planning in order to uphold responsible purchasing and investing decisions
  • Proactively developing financial models, analyses and recommendations to support various business initiatives (like reducing churn, growing MRR, etc.)
  • Working closely with our CEO and COO to evaluate and pursue business development, fundraising and corporate capital markets opportunities
  • Budgeting and projections
  • Helping establish and maintain team, company and individual KPIs
  • Digging in and getting your hands dirty—you’ll get things done at every level of our financial processes

Here are a few hints that you might be the person we’re looking for:

  • You have a post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline
  • You have 5+ years of experience in a combination of finance and accounting
  • Accredited accounting designation preferred (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, etc.)
  • You’re familiar with Xero & Excel
  • You have a solid understanding of SaaS Metrics (MRR, ARR, LTV, CAC…)
  • You’ve proven you have leadership skills and can work with various teams and styles
  • You possess solid problem-solving and decision-making skills, with an emphasis on collaboration, consensus and innovation
  • You value transparent and clear communication
  • You have an extremely high bar for your ethics and integrity, and those of your company
  • You’re a stickler with a keen eye for small details—nothing sneaks by you!
  • You’re confident you can dive right in and provide recommendations now, but are also forward-thinking and willing to help shape and grow the finance department to suit the vision of the company
  • You’ve done this before! You’re experienced in growing an early stage startup to continued profitability

Why we think you’ll like working with us:

  • Be part of a collaborative, high performing team focused on building best-in-class software in order to grow our company
  • We offer a competitive salary, health/dental/vision benefits, and an open vacation policy
  • Be part of one of the fastest growing companies in Vancouver
  • Celebrate and get to know your peers with monthly and quarterly team events
  • We have an amazing existing team of really talented engineers, marketers, and customer success people that want to work with you
  • You get to make a real difference in the entire company from accounting and finance to planning for each department

Are you the perfect fit? We move fast and want to hear from you.
