Social Media Intern

Working with our Community & Content Manager, the Social Media Intern will help create and execute the ShareDesk brand vision across our social media channels and biweekly newsletters. You will be an integral part of developing brand awareness and digitally communicating with our community.

The position would be ideal for an individual who possesses a keen interest and aptitude for stepping into an established brand identity and pushing it further, creating content which will resonate with our diverse, global community. Most importantly, this position requires experience with (and a true passion for) social media, digital communications, and creating concise content in a playful, yet professional brand voice. We would expect you to be in-house at our Gastown office 2-3 days, or 10-15 hours of work per week.

Duties:
--Help develop and refine the strategy to expand ShareDesk’s existing social media presence
--Exciting opportunity to create a social media strategy for the ShareDesk Instagram channel from scratch
--Maintain and build upon strategy for existing social media channels (mainly Twitter, Facebook, and Linkedin)
--Monitor and respond to engagement across various social channels
--Help select social media management and measurement tool(s)
--Develop and monitor social media analytics and data, select KPIs for each network, and create end-of-month summaries
--Put together and schedule bi-weekly newsletters

Requirements:
--Bachelor’s Degree or currently pursuing Bachelor’s Degree
--A passion for tech, startups, and the future of work
--A solid understanding of social platforms (specifically Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)
--Comfortable scheduling content using a SaaS tool (such as Hootsuite, Buffer, or Later)
--Can create KPIs, record metrics, and analyze data
--Possesses the ability to write succinctly with proper grammar
--Is comfortable taking on independent work and learning new skills
--Thinks outside of the box and possesses a contagiously creative and innovative energy

Great to haves:
--Social Media or Digital Marketing certification
--Proven experience building an engaged social media following in a professional context
--Working knowledge of photoshop (to edit and crop photographs)
--An understanding of Mailchimp/building content for a newsletter
--Experience creating and executing editorial calendars
